Mauritius, known as the star and key of the Indian
Ocean due to its strategic position in the trade route between Europe and the
East before the opening of the Suez Canal and the power struggle between the
French and the British, is also the convergence point of various civilisations.
Settlers from Europe, Africa, India and China have created a unique melting pot
and Mauritians have been enjoying fusion cuisine long before it came the latest
fag.
The colourful mix of various cultures and religions in Mauritius has
resulted in a colourful palate of celebrations that gives the population
opportunities to rejoice together and share goodies with one’s neighbours,
friends and family in harmony all year round.
